I knew I shouldn't have made a post about it being quiet...

As soon as I do, weird shit starts happening. I swear, there is some cosmic being going "oh look, they are happy and content, time to give them a mindfuck".

We spent the weekend at my parents house, not bad, was kinda nice because we were able to really relax. But I started feeling worse and worse there.

Sunday afternoon, after we get back to beautiful Eau Claire, I decide to go to Urgent Care. My cough is starting to get constant, and I am wheezing more. The PA looks at me, and just says "oh you have bronchitis, here is some medicine, have a good day".

So we fill the meds (4 different perscriptions!), go home. I sleep most of Monday (codine laced cough medicine... lovely), and feel slightly better Tuesday. Or so I thought.

Fortunately, Jen had off on tuesday. It started with me, apparently, babbling. And my lips and extremities turning blue. Then, apparently about noon, I started singing "It's a small world" over and over again. My wife, knowing that I do not sing and dance on a normal basis, dragged me to the hospital.

I never had bronchitis. I was having the mother of all Asthma attacks. My oxy level was dangerously low, and if it hadn't been for my wife being home, i was told there was a good chance I would of passed out in my chair. My body was suffocating me slowly.

Now, this is the SECOND time that Sacred Heart Hospital here in Eau Claire has fucked up my diagnosis, and cost me dearly. The first time was with my ankle. (as in: "It's just a sprain, walk it off.", then the next day "er, apparently that bump you feel movign on your leg is actually the bone with is broken, you shouldn't walk on it, oh and it will never heal right because you did").

So as a warning to all: If you are in Eau Claire, and you aren't feeling well, go to Luthor hospital. NEVER go to Sacred Heart.

Hope you are feeling better!

Eau Claire must be similar to Rapids - I wouldn't trust that hospital with my cat considering things that have happened to family and friends there.

I went to the Riverview Doctor's clinic with some mono related joint pain and I remember my doctor more or less throwing medication at me - an anti-biotic, bextra (aka vioxx and this at the time of the whole controversy around the drug too), and vicodin. Later, I got prednizone which allowed me to enjoy christmas and new years.

Blah blah blah

advice taken - though I will ask my sister about her experience in Eau Claire too. She used to go to the ER a lot for kidney stones.

I wonder if you can sue for the ankle thing.

They usually make you sign your life away as soon as you get into a hospital to prevent all the sue happy people from going nuts and people with actual claims to have no chance at all.

No fun :(

This brings to mind the old joke:

What do you call the guy who finishes last in his class in medical school?

Doctor.

Is Sacred Heart the one right by the university? I can't remember -- I just remember being told that the one by the university is the crap hospital.

Yeah, sacred heart is the one by the University.

And even though they make you sign those forms, some things are still wrong. Heck, I am fighting those bills for my foot from them - yeah i am not suing for extra (since I can still walk and all, they said no real suit avaliable... but I did lose my dream of playing football for the predators - i had lost 50 pounds and gained some muscle just for that, but now with my ankle which still bruises up every day I can't - which means the 50 pounds came back :(
